| President,ICAI CA. Ved Jain participated in Bhoomi Poojan and foundation stone laying ceremony for the Proposed Bellary Branch building at 1.00 acre site allotted by local Urban Development Authority on 12th March, 2008. He was accompanied by Vice President CA. Uttam Prakash Agarwal, Chairman CPE Committee CA. K.Raghu, Chairman SIRC CA P.Rajendra Kumar, immediate Past Chairman of SIRC CA. K.S.Madhav Murthy, Secretary SIRC, CA K.Vishwanath and SIRC member CA. A.Rajagopal and CA.Nagesh Pinge. |

| At the beginning, Chairman of the Branch CA. Jayaprakash J. Gupta welcomed the gathering of Special invitees, Members and Students . CA. S.Pannaraj, Vice chairman of the Branch compered the programme. |

| CA Ved Jain, President, ICAI addressed the gathering and lauded the efforts of Bellary Branch in reaching the present level within a short span of 15 months.He stressed that this was possible only because of the “sense of belonging” of the members. This attitude is very necessary in the present circumstances to cope up with the fast pace of economic growth in the country. He congratulated the branch for living upto the expected standards of the predecessors who led the Institute and laid the foundation of longer vision. He emphasized the role of Branches in the developing society by sharing professional expertise and help local governments in managing their finances. In this endeavor he directed the Branch to continuously interact with bureaucrats, Elected representatives, NGO’s, Chambers of Commerce, etc. in their region. |

| He also suggested that meetings on budgets be conducted ( Union and State ) and concrete suggestion made to government through Public Finance Committee of I.C.A.I. |

| He advised Members to keep abreast of the fast changing knowledge sources and Information technology by making use of the Computer Lab and Library available at the Branch. While addressing the Chairman of Bellary Branch,he voiced his expectations of every Member at Bellary to be I.T. Savy by end September 2008. He assured full support in enhancing the opportunities for the Practicing Members. He also stressed that fresh C.As should enhance their Personality Development and Communication skills by utilizing the special residential course of ICAI planned from April’09. He assured the Branch of 100% grant out of his discretionary fund in addition to Rs.12.50 Lakhs for building of the Branch. |

| He advised students to make use of Gyan Dharshan II – a coaching class programme through T.V. broadcast conducted by ICAI. |

| CA. Uttam Prakash Agarwal, Vice President, ICAI, stressed the importance of Infrastructure development in all branches, in general, and in fast growing places like Bellary in particular. He advised the Members to popularize the CA Course,create awareness about the profession and extend the coaching for students beyond CPT level. He assured all support for developmental activities including research at Branch level. |

| CA. K.Raghu highlighted the Team effort of the Bellary Branch Members in formation of Branch and its activities thereafter. He lauded the pace at which the Infrastructure facilities are developed for the benefit of Members and Students in addition to the academic activities. He voiced that “Team Bellary” works with the same spirit in future. |

| CA K.S.Madhav Murthy, immediate Past Chairman of SIRC congratulated Members of Bellary Branch for acquiring Land and taking up construction of building which is very vital to cater to the needs of Members and Students of the Region. He recalled and appreciated the efforts made by the Branch in mobilizing the students at PU level to get into C.A. Course. He also appreciated the commitment of the Branch towards society. He recalled the conference conducted on 2nd and 3rd February at Bellary on Rural Development and Farming Activity,in which the opportunities available to Chartered Accountants and their role in this field were highlighted. |

| CA. P.Rajendra Kumar, Chairman of SIRC also congratulated the Branch. He assured support from the Regional Coucil in developing the infrastructure and providing faculty members for running the coaching classes at Bellary. |
