Under the aegis of Board of Studies, Gurgaon Branch of NIRC of ICAI hosted a National Convention of CA Student on 29 & 30 November 2014 for the first time in Gurgaon. The theme of the convention was “ASPIRE TO INSPIRE”. The convention was a historic event, where 897 students participated as delegates and was held at the most prestigious venue at Scottish High School, Gurgaon.

The formal inaugural session was graced by Chief Guest CA. M Devaraja Reddy-Chairman BOS, CA. Atul Kumar Gupta, Central Council Member –ICAI , CA Sanjeev Kumar Chaudhary, Central Council Member –ICAI , CA Radhey Shaym Bansal , Chairman NIRC , CA Swadesh Gupta , Secretary , NIRC – ICAI , CA Rajiv Dagar , Chairman , Gurgaon Branch of NIRC of ICAI and all other Respected Committee members of Branch were also present in inaugural session.

The Convention was attended by Managing committee members of Gurgaon Branch viz CA. Rajiv Dagar , Chairman-Gurgaon Branch of NIRC of ICAI, CA. Pradeep Lakhani –Vice Chairman-, CA. Sanjay Goyal , Secretary, Gugaon Branch Of NIRC of ICAI , CA. Naveen Garg , Treasure , Gurgaon Branch Of NIRC Of ICAI , CA Sanjay Kumar Agrawal , Executive Member , Gurgaon Branch , and Galaxy of past Regional Council Members, past chairmen of Gurgaon Branch etc.

Out of more than 40 papers received from CA Students, 17 best papers were selected to be presented in the Technical Sessions on the topics ranging from Direct Tax , The Companies Act , 2013 , Accounting Standard and Indirect Tax.

The first session was held on Direct Tax, in which there was one main speaker and four student speakers. CA. Sanjeev Kumar Chaudhary from Gurgaon was the main speaker and he delivered a lecture on Assessment Procedure and Deductions Under Chapter VI-A. Ms. Akshaya Rangrajan from Chennai , Gurpreet Kaur from Hisar , Divya Kamboj from Delhi , and Rajat Sharma from Hisar was the student speaker on the same topic. In this session, CA. Swadesh Gupta – Secretary , NIRC presented his welcome address , CA. Sanjay Kumar Agrawal-Managing Committee Member Gurgaon Branch presented his vote of thanks. After that a special session was held on “ Success Delayed Is Not Success Denied “, in which there was one main speaker Mr. Sunil Keswani .

After that 2nd Technical session was held on The Companies Act. 2013 in which there was one main speaker and four student speakers. CA Mukesh Kushwah , Central Council Member , CIRC , ICAI was the main speaker and he delivered lecture on CSR and Auditor’s Responsibilties. Ms. Palak Arora from Jammu and Kashmir, Mr. Dhruv Kumar from Delhi, Ms. Nandini Chaoudhary amd Ms Madhurima Darisi from Nagpur was the student speaker. CA Manoj Kumar Bansal , Vice Chairman , NIRC ICAI presented his welcome address , CA Sanjay Goyal , Secretary ,Gurgaon Branch of NIRC of ICAI presented his vote of thanks. At the end of First Day there was the Cultural Evening and it was highly appreciated by the participants .

On the second day i.e. 30 November, on 2014, The Convention witnessed CA Manoj Fadnis , Vice President , ICAI and motivated the delegates. The third technical session was held on Indirect Tax , in which there was one main speaker and four student speakers. Speaker CA. Atul Kumar Gupta, Central Council Member , ICAI delivered lecture on Reverse Charge Mechanism and CENVAT Credit. Mr. Pranay Mehrotra from Jaipur , Mr. Rohit Goyal from Hisar , Mr. Nikhil Chabbra from Ludhiana , Mr. Jyoti Shankar Mishra from Orrisa and Mr. Vaibhav Agrawal from Hyderabad were the Student Speaker . CA. Presented his welcome address. CA. Naveen Garg , presented his vote of thanks.

After that there was the Special Session on “Code Of Conduct” in which Mr. Rajesh Bhalla, Dy. Secretary , BOS and CA Aparana Chauhan , Executive Officer , BOS addressed the students.

After that there was the Special Session on “ Unleash The Power Within You : To Be An Efficient Communicator “ and the speaker was CA Charan Jot Singh Nanda , Central Council Member , ICAI. CA Hans Raj Chug , Executive Member NIRC ICAI addressed the gathering with his valuable words.

After that fourth technical session was held on Accounitng Standard , in which there was one main speaker and four student speakers. Speaker CA. Kamal Garg, delivered his lecture on IND As & IFRS. Mr. Shalab Hajela from Ghaziabad , Mr. Akand Pratap Singh from Bhopal , Ms. Shivani Digga from Hissar and Ms. Akansha Agrawal from Delhi were the student speaker. CA. Sanjay Kumar Agrawal presented his vote of thanks.

The Cyber City – Gurgaon , witnessed for the first time the huge gathering of the students under one roof. The Convention got huge media publicity at almost all the big players of the print as well as TV media had widely covered the entire event. The whole event was managed and executed by volunteers of Guragon Branch . Over all the Convention was a historically grand success and was successful in achieving its desired objectives.
