ICAI Election 2015 - An Appeal from Returning Officer

Dear Member,

The stage is all set for the triennial Elections to the Council and the Regional Councils of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. The polling at the polling booths located in Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi/New Delhi, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Pune, Surat and Thane will be held on 4th and 5th December, 2015, while at the polling booths in the remaining centres, it will be conducted only on 5th December, 2015. The timings for polling on the appointed day(s) will be from 8.00 A.M. to 8.00 P.M.

To facilitate the voting process by about 2,28,500 voters, 621 polling booths have been set up all across the nation, while about 11,500 members will be exercising their franchise by post. The postal voters are required to mark their preferences and return the ballot papers in the manner specified so as to reach me not later than 5.00 P.M. on 15th December, 2015.

The polling booth details have been informed to all the eligible voters through a circular sent by post. In case you have not received, the same can be accessed through the following link http://115.248.235.57/lov2015.asp available at the ICAI website.

Further, I would like to inform that various measures such as arrangements for video recording, appointment of independent polling officers, observers etc. have been put in place to conduct this election in a free, fair and transparent manner. This is an opportunity for all the members, who are eligible to vote, to exercise their franchise. It is our sacred professional duty to cast our ballot. Therefore, as Returning Officer and Secretary of the ICAI, I would appeal to all eligible voters to turn out in large numbers on the day(s) of election and exercise your franchise to select the best candidate for your own Institute and profession. The list of the contesting candidates and their respective particulars can be seen at http://icai.org/post.html?post_id=12122.

I solicit your cooperation in smooth conduct of the elections.

Yours sincerely,

(V. Sagar)
