  • ICAI Study Tour to UK and Ireland from October 26, 2014 to November 2, 2014

    In order to carry forward the dialogue of mutual cooperation between ICAI and ICAEW; the International Affairs Committee and Indirect Taxes Committee of ICAI had undertaken a study tour to UK and Ireland from October 26 to November 2, 2014 for our members, on self financing basis. The dates from October 26- 30, 2014 have been kept for London and October 31 to November 1, 2014 for Ireland.

    The following meetings were held during the tour:
    • Meeting with Financial Reporting Council (FRC)
    • Meeting with The Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT)
    • Programme on VAT Organized by Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT) and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW)
    • Meeting with High Commissioner of India to UK
    • Networking Meeting with Mr. Andrew Ratcliffe, Deputy President, ICAEW
    • Meeting With the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland (CPA Ireland)

  • Inauguration of ICAI Chapter at Vancouver

    The ICAI had its 24th Overseas Chapter inaugurated on November 23, 2014 at British Columbia. CA. K. Raghu, President, ICAI had inaugurated the Chapter in the presence of Indian Consul and Head of Chancery, Vancouver Mr. R. Chandarmouli, and Mr. Sav Dhaliwal Councillor, City of Burnaby.

  • Inauguration of ICAI Chapter at Bangkok

    The Bangkok Chapter of ICAI was inaugurated on January 12, 2015 by CA. K.Raghu, President of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India in presence of CA. Manoj Fadnis, Vice President of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. Honourable His Excellency Ambassador of India, Mr. Harsh Vardhan Shringla EOI, Bangkok and Honourable His Excellency Energy Minister Dr Narongchai Akrasanee, Bangkok graced the occasion with their presence at the event.

  • Inauguration of ICAI Chapter at Dar Es Salam

    The Dar Es Salaam Chapter of ICAI was inaugurated on 13th January 2015 by CA. K.Raghu, President of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India in presence of CA. Manoj Fadnis, Vice President of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India and graced with the eminent presence of His Excellency Debnath Shaw, High Commissioner of India to Tanzania.

  • Signing of MoU with the Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants (SOCPA)

    The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants (SOCPA) on June 18, 2014 at ICAI Bhawan, New Delhi.

    Saudi Organization for Certified Public Accountants (SOCPA) is a professional organization in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Commerce in order to promote the accounting and auditing profession and all matters that might lead to the development of the profession and upgrading its status. A thirteen members Board manages SOCPA affairs, and practices the powers required for realizing its objectives.

    The MoU interalia provides that both ICAI and SOCPA would be working together in establishing possible co-operation in respect of Corporate Governance, technical research and advice, quality assurance, forensic accounting, issues for Small and Medium Sized Practices (SMPs) etc.

  • Renewal of MRA between ICAI and CPA Australia and ICAI and the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia

    Coinciding with the International Conference of the Australia (Sydney) Chapter of ICAI on September 19, 2014; ICAI had renewed its MoU with ICA Australia and MRA with CPA Australia to increase mobility of professionals at either ends and herald a new dimension for business globally.

  • Renewal of MoU with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales

    The Council at its 330th meeting had approved the renewal of MoU of ICAI with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England & Wales (ICAEW) for a further period of 5 years on the terms approved by IA Committee.

    Approvals for the renewal of MoU have been received from Ministry of External Affairs (L& T Division and Territorial Division). Communication dated October 27, 2014 has been sent to Ministry of Corporate Affairs for the no objection Certificate. We intend to sign the MoU with

    ICAEW at the World Congress of Accountants (WCOA) 2014 at Rome, Italy from November 10-13, 2014, which is a global platform to showcase the development in accounting profession.

  • Renewal of MoU with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales

    The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India has renewed its Memorandum of Understanding with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales on November 08, 2014 at Rome, coinciding with the World Congress of Accountants, 2014. ICAEW and ICAI have renewed the MoU to recognize the qualification, training of each other and admit the members in good standing by prescribing a bridging mechanism.

  • Renewal of MRA with CPA Australia

    The MRA between ICAI & CPA Australia was signed on February 02, 2009. Coinciding with the International Conference of the Australia (Sydney) Chapter of ICAI on September 19, 2014; ICAI had renewed its MRA with CPA Australia to increase mobility of professionals at either ends and herald a new dimension for business globally.

  • Addendum in MoU signed with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia

    Coinciding with the International Conference of the Australia (Sydney) Chapter of ICAI on September 19, 2014; ICAI had signed an addendum in the MoU with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia which has extended the validity of the MoU to May 31, 2015

  • Dialogue with South African Institute of Chartered Accountants

    ICAI has entered into dialogue for exploring MoU with the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants. The South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) is the foremost accountancy body in South Africa and one of the leading Institutes in the world. It plays an influential role in a highly dynamic business sector.

  • Bilateral Co-operation with Pakistan & Sri Lanka

    ICAI feels that it has a larger role to play by extending its expertise to develop the accountancy profession in developing countries on no profit no loss basis. ICAI is keen to build capacity in transition economies to help them overcome the lack of professional knowledge in accounting domain. In this regards, ICAI is in talks with Pakistan & Sri Lanka to establish mutual cooperation between the two Institutes for the development of the accountancy profession in these countries and India.

  • Bilateral talks with the merged Canadian Institutes

    Canada’s accounting profession is united under a new single designation, Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA). The profession’s national body, Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada), represents and supports more than 190,000 members across the country. CPA Canada has consolidated the operations of three national accounting bodies: The Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Certified General Accountants of Canada and The Society of Management Accountants of Canada. CPA Canada conducts research into current and emerging business issues and supports the setting of accounting, auditing and assurance standards for business, not-for-profit organizations and government. It also issues guidance on control and governance, publishes professional literature and develops certification and continuing education programs.

    The existing arrangement of MOU between ICAI and the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants as signed in February 2011 has been a huge success and the current MoU expires in 2016. Further, in view of the unification of the three Institutes in Canada, it is important that both the Institutes renew the existing arrangement so as to carry forward the bilateral relationship.

    In this regard, ICAI has sent a communication to Mr. Kevin Dancey, President & Chief Executive Officer, CPA Canada for starting the bilateral talks for the benefit of membership at either end.

  • Bilateral talks with merged Australia & New Zealand Institute

    The Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia (ICAA) and the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants have amalgamated to become Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. In view of this amalgamation, it becomes important to reinitiate the bilateral talks with the Institute. For this, the ICAI had bilateral meetings with CEOs of CA Australia and New Zealand for the renewal of MoU with ICAI post June 2015; when the existing arrangement expires.
