Dear Members,
As you are kindly aware, the Central Board of Direct Taxes has notified new income-tax return forms to enable the assessees to file their returns electronically. At the time of finalizing the new income-tax return forms the CBDT accepted and incorporated many of the suggestions made by the ICAI.
The CBDT is in the process of finalizing the software, which would enable the filing of the income-tax return forms electronically. The Institute is in touch with the CBDT to ascertain all the developments in this regard.
The Fiscal Laws Committee has decided that the members all over the country should be helped to fully understand the procedures of filling up and filing these new forms electronically. For this purpose it has been decided that help centres should be opened in each of the Regional Offices and Branches of the Institute to provide a helping hand to the members for understanding the procedure for filing the income-tax returns in the electronic mode.
In this regard the FLC desires to enlist appropriate faculty members who are well versed in the procedures relating to electronic filing of income-tax returns. Such faculty members would be requested to make themselves available preferably in the evening for about 2 to 3 hours for the guidance of members. Sufficient e-infrastructure will be made available in the Regional Office as well as in the Branches to help the faculty members to discharge their responsibility. Interested members are requested to send their detailed resume to flc@icai.org/ graudit@gmail.com latest by 30 June 2007.
The Fiscal Laws Committee felt that it is very important that the scheme of electronic filing of returns should be made popular and followed by the members of the profession earnestly so that our profession will take the lead in supporting the e-governance initiatives of the Government.
A positive response is awaited.
Thanking you,
Yours faithfully,
CA. G. Ramaswamy
Chairman
Fiscal Laws Committee
