The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament viz., The Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 in the year 1949 for regulating the profession of Chartered Accountants in the country. ICAI functions under the administrative control of Ministry of Corporate Affairs and has 5 Regional Councils and 150 branches covering the length and breadth of the country. In addition, it has also set up 26 chapters outside India.

CA. Manoj Fadnis, President, ICAI has been elected as the Deputy President of Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA) at the Board meeting of CAPA held on October 27, 2015 at Seoul for a period of two years. ICAI nominee CA. Manoj Fadnis gets this coveted position after a gap of ten years.

The Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA) is the Regional Organisation representing national accountancy organizations in the Asia-Pacific region and ICAI is one of founding members of CAPA. ICAI has been playing a proactive role in positioning the Indian accounting profession prominently on all the International Accounting forums and building up brand image internationally.

With more than 28 years of experience and proven track record, Mr. Fadnis has held numerous leadership positions within the accountancy profession in India. On the international front, he is the Assembly & Board Member of South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) and is the Chair of the SMP Committee of SAFA. He is also the Technical Advisor to the Board member of the International Federation of Accountants.

Mr. Fadnis has varied and distinguished experience in area of Taxation and Auditing. He has represented ICAI at various international forums, where he has espoused the concerns of SMPs in the developing nations like India.

The Confederation of Asian and Pacific Accountants (CAPA) is the Regional Organisation representing national accountancy organisations in the Asia-Pacific region. Today, CAPA has a membership of 31 accountancy organisations in 23 jurisdictions. CAPA's mission is to provide leadership in the development, enhancement, and coordination of the accountancy profession in the Asia-Pacific region to enable the profession to provide services of consistently high quality in the public interest.
