Fake Audio Clip circulated on WhatsApp in the name of President, ICAI


The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) is a statutory body established under the Chartered Accountants Act, 1949 for the regulation of the profession of Chartered Accountants in India. ICAI is the second largest accounting body in the world and has achieved recognition as a premier accounting body not only in the country but also globally, for maintaining highest standards in technical, ethical areas and for sustaining stringent examination and education standards. As part of nation building, Indian accountancy profession has been acting responsibly offering its complete support to the Government of India in its initiatives, particularly those relating to economic reforms.

A fake audio clip containing views on economic matters, inter alia, demonetization, tax reforms etc. is in circulation on Social media including Whatsapp in the name of CA. M. Devaraja Reddy, President, ICAI has come to notice of ICAI.

It is clarified to public at large that the said audio clip is fake and the voice therein is not of CA. M. Devaraja Reddy, President, ICAI. The views expressed in the said audio clip do not represent the views of CA. M. Devaraja Reddy or of ICAI.

A clarification dated December 9, 2016 has already been hosted on ICAI website informing public at large about the said fake audio.
