The 67th Annual Function of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) was inaugurated by Shri Suresh Prabhu, Hon’ble Union Minister of Railways in the presence of CA. M. Devaraja Reddy, President, CA. Nilesh S.Vikamsey, Vice-President, ICAI & other dignitaries during a function organized today i.e. February 8, 2017 at New Delhi.
Shri Suresh Prabhu, Chief Guest of the occasion complimented ICAI’s endeavor to be an active partner in Government’s various initiatives and said “This is a turning point in the economic history of our country, the whole economic architecture is getting built up, digitization is underway. If CA profession rides this wave, they can emerge as leaders of new economic architecture.” He further added “With the support of ICAI, a massive programme of accounting reforms in Indian Railways in underway.”
CA. M. Devaraja Reddy, President, ICAI presided over the function where he thanked his Colleagues for the cooperation and support. In his Presidential address, he said “Being dynamic and being aligned with the changing times is the cornerstone of our profession.”
Addressing the function, President, ICAI stated “To align with the changing times and regulations, we are the forerunners to grab any opportunity. Indian accountancy profession has been rendering complete support to the Government of India in its initiatives, particularly those relating to economy. The ICAI is committed to continue its efforts in guiding and shaping the accountancy profession.”
While delivering the vote of thanks, CA. Nilesh S. Vikamsey, Vice-President, ICAI said “ICAI has significantly contributed in catapulting India’s economic growth by moving shoulder to shoulder with the Government to partner with its initiatives and measures. The Chartered Accountancy profession is regarded as the trustee of public interest. The profession today, is geared up for better corporate governance by acting as a catalyst to business growth.”
