ICAI holds Convocation Ceremony -2021-22 at New Delhi

The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), established by an Act of Parliament in 1949 has proven its mark as an elite world class institution devoted to uphold the values of transparency, accountability and integrity. Since its inception, ICAI has taken possible measures to make the CA education accessible to all economic strata of our country. Being a gender- and disability- sensitive institution, ICAI has been empowering the youth of our nation, producing almost fifteen to twenty thousand premier, competent and global accounting professionals a year and thereby contributing to both national as well as world economy.

Every year, the ICAI organizes Annual Convocation Ceremony to award certificates of membership to new members and facilitate rank holders of the CA examinations. However, since January, 2020, the Convocation could not be organized due to COVID-19 Pandemic and restriction on public gathering by State and Central Govt.

In the current year, the ICAI planned to organize Convocation ceremony at 11 places - Mumbai, Pune, Ahmadabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Kolkata, Kanpur, Indore, Jaipur and Delhi to award the certificates to newly enrolled members & rank holders. More than 13000 Members have received their certificates during the Convocation ceremony.

In Delhi, the Convocation is being held on 12th-13th April, 2022. During the event, approx. 4, 500 Members are being awarded Certificate of Membership and Rank holders of CA Final Examinations will also be awarded Rank Certificates.

The function on April 12th was attended by over 2000 participants along with their parents at New Delhi. The Members who were conferred the certificates were full of joy, emotions and satisfaction on their academic efforts being rewarded.

The Convocation is intended to bring young members of the profession under the umbrella of the fraternity of Chartered Accountants and foster a sense of belongingness to the profession and the Institute.

Over the years, the role of ICAI has evolved and expanded to meet changing needs and new challenges. Today, ICAI has grown manifold and has created a vast pool of Chartered Accountants, essential for practically every sphere of the country’s economy, industry, business and good governance. Comprehensive and rigorous training and a high standard examination ensures that only those people who possess high level of knowledge, intelligence, experience and command on the subjects covered by Chartered Accountancy are able to qualify as Chartered Accountant. The making of a CA ensures a very deep-rooted knowledge, coupled with a commitment to work hard with ethics.

The Institute would continue to provide guidance for the growth of profession in line with changing requirements of stakeholders and enable full utilization of capacities of the Indian professionals at National as well as International level.

About ICAI

The Institute functions under the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India. Started in 1949 with about 1700 members, ICAI is a prominent accounting body in the country and the second largest accounting body in the world with over 3.40 lakh members. ICAI has 5 Regional Councils and 164 branches all across the country with over 7 lakh students. In addition, it has also set up 44 Overseas chapters outside India.
