The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) today announced the result of Common Proficiency Test (Paper Pencil Mode) held on June 22,2014.

Announcing the results today CA. K Raghu, President ICAI said “India is a happening economy and we find that the Chartered Accountants are in a great demand not only in traditional sectors like banking, financial services or manufacturing, even in the new generation sectors like the IT, ITS, telecom, infrastructure and retail, there is a huge demand of chartered accountants”.

He further added “The globalization has unfolded new vistas of opportunities for Chartered Accountants. West Asian Countries including Dubai, Kuwait, Muscat besides Australia and Singapore are also turning out to be the most favored destinations for CAs. In India, the average starting salary for CAs at present is about Rs.7.30 Lac per annum. ICAI as an Institute hones their skills and prepares them to face challenges as a result of dynamic economy”.

Since December 1949, the Chartered Accountancy Examination is held twice in a year.

The top three rank holders of Common Proficiency Test held on June 22,2014 are from Guntur , Bhopal, Nagpur , Vijaywada & Bhilwara and their details along with the marks secured by them are mentioned at Annexure -A. The result details of the CPT examination in terms of pass percentage are mentioned at Annexure-B.

The result this time shows that women candidates have fared better than their male counterparts. CA.K Raghu said, “More and more women are turning into professionals and are proving their mettle by playing an important role in every sphere of business and industry. Indian Accountancy profession is no exception to this phenomenon. Today, ICAI can boast of girl students comprising of 36% share of active students”.

He further added “The ICAI organizes Campus Placement Programmes for the benefit of newly qualified Chartered Accountants twice every year. These programmes provide an opportunity to the employers to interact with newly qualified Chartered Accountants and is a cost effective mode of recruiting Chartered Accountants.” The Chartered Accountancy is a highly prestigious course and a unique professional qualification which provides ample opportunities to students coming from any stream.
