• To develop the strategic vision and operational plans for the CoED in alignment with ICAI's Vision 2030 document.
  • To conduct research-oriented training programs aimed at capacity building focussing on enhancing knowledge and skills of various stakeholders.
  • To promote a culture of research excellence and integrity and fostering innovation and interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge exchange at CoE by setting up research block, forensic accounting lab etc. to contribute to ICAI’s strategic objectives and to make ICAI members as world’s best thought leaders with relevant committee(s).
  • To undertake research and development at CoE on significant aspects relating to Budget of India/State Governments and certification by chartered accountants, financial literacy/inclusion, role of chartered accountants in policy making, good governance vs. ease of doing business etc. and submission of such research findings to the Government as a partner in nation building.
  • To recommend world class facilities and help in designing course structure with the help of eminent experts to be undertaken at the CoEs in line with the policy on CoEs for upskilling and reskilling members, students, employees of ICAI, Government officials and various other stakeholders.
  • To identify emerging trends, technologies, and best practices in the field of accounting, assurance, taxation, finance and business management and develop programs to incorporate the same in CoE of ICAI.
  • To establish and maintain partnerships and collaborations with national and international organizations in order to promote knowledge sharing and professional development opportunities.
  • To provide new perspectives and understanding of the present-day business milieu to all stakeholders by drawing eminent experts from various fields.
  • To invite various nobel Laureates, Academicians, International Speakers, Business Leaders, Technological Experts and other Professional experts at the Centres of Excellence to share their specialised knowledge and rich experience contributing to skill-building of our members, students and other stakeholders.
  • To develop and implement policies including the policy on CoE approved by the Council, procedures, and best practices for the operation and governance of CoEs.
  • To ensure the optimum utilisation of the existing Centres of Excellence and future Centres of Excellence.
  • To recommend and advise infrastructure, repairs and maintenance related issues to Infrastructure Development Committee (IDC) and estate Development Directorate (EDD) respectively.
To monitor and supervise tasks related to Centres of Excellence so as to undertake the above activities with the help of the respective committee(s).

To undertake any additional tasks necessary to fulfil the objectives set forth for the establishment of the Directorate for Centres of Excellence.
